Bedroom Designs Home
The bedroom is for many the most important room in your house or apartment. As a child it is very important and as a young adult it becomes a place of intimacy and adventure. But in your more mature years your bedroom became a refuge, a wonderful place to relax, read and recuperate. And throughout all these stages or periods of your life, your bedroom designs have always played a part.
Whether it is the colour scheme, the décor, the lighting, curtains or drapes or the knick knacks, your bedroom design is the character and soul of your sleeping place.
The four main characteristics
Every bedroom is unique and to make this point emphatic, here are four items which give your bedroom design a stamp of class:
- Windows
- Wall
- Bedding and
- Floor
Your bedroom may have only one window but how your decorate says a lot. Curtains, blinds, pelmet and sash are all possibilities but your window or windows speak volumes for the character of your bedroom.
Then we study the walls which can be painted or covered with wallpaper or a combination of the two. The whole atmosphere of the room is set off by your colour scheme with your walls. Then there are the attachments to your walls such as photographs or paintings. These should complement the actual surface they are attached to.
Then we come to your bedding. Of course the bed is important in terms of comfort and space but the coverings are what give your bed its style and possible class. Bulk, material and colour are three ingredients to be considered when choosing your bedding. A cover or throw rug and cushions of different shapes and colours are also important. The room can be set off simply by how you dress your bed.
And the fourth ingredient is your floor or rather what you place thereon. A rug is like the icing on a cake. It’s the first thing many people notice. Does it add to the design of your bedroom or clash with other things in the room? A simple rug, even an inexpensive one but with the right colour even shape and pattern can give your bedroom design that instant standout appearance.
Space
How many times have you entered a bedroom which is so cluttered it’s almost impossible to move anywhere? Of course the size of the actual room is a factor but it is important with bedroom designs to where possible, add space to your bedroom. Simple things like using the underside of your bed to remove items or using the back of your door for the same purpose. The appropriate sized bed is naturally important. Alternatively a great way to save space is by investing in bunk beds for kids who live in the home. Bunk beds are a great way to save on the precious bedroom space.
Of course some people like clutter or at least seem to enjoy it. But space, clean lines, the absence of clutter and simplicity are the usual qualities of award-winning bedroom designs. If you think that less is more you may well be on the path to creating a bedroom you can enjoy being in and not just using it as a place of rest.
